Celebrating Tanzania’s unmatched excellence in wildlife, culture, and adventure — a year of historic wins that put the country at the forefront of African tourism.
Serengeti National Park, June 29, 2025 — The golden plains of northern Tanzania stirred with excitement as Mr. Graham Cooke, President and Founder of the World Travel Awards (WTA), arrived in Serengeti National Park less than 24 hours after Tanzania proudly hosted the WTA ceremony for the very first time. He was joined by his wife, Jane Featherstone, and son Justin Cooke, symbolizing the global tourism community’s admiration for Tanzania’s crown jewel.
At the prestigious awards gala held on June 28 at the luxurious Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Serengeti National Park was honored with two monumental accolades:
🏆 Africa’s Leading Big Five National Park (for the first time)
🏆 Africa’s Leading National Park (regaining its former title)
This recognition once again affirms Serengeti’s status as the ultimate African safari destination — a land where wildlife reigns, and the wild spirit of Africa lives on.
Tanzania on Top
Beyond Serengeti, Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) achieved a sweeping victory, winning seven major awards that reflected the nation’s diverse ecosystems and cultural richness.
🏆 Tanzania’s 2025 WTA Triumphs:

- Kitulo National Park – Africa’s Leading Honeymoon Destination

Why Tanzania?
Tanzania is a country where nature rules with majesty and grace. From Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s tallest mountain, to the coral coastlines of Zanzibar, and the cultural depths of Lake Eyasi, it is a destination made for dreamers, adventurers, and wildlife lovers.
Each national park offers its own soul:
- Ruaha National Park – Tanzania’s largest and wildest, with rugged landscapes and predator-rich ecosystems
- Tarangire National Park – A sanctuary for elephants and baobabs, especially during the dry season
- Nyerere National Park – Vast, untamed, and rich with waterways, hippos, and birdlife
- Kitulo National Park – A hidden gem known as the “Serengeti of Flowers,” perfect for romance and photography
The Legend of Serengeti
Serengeti National Park spans over 14,750 km² and is home to the Great Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move in a never-ending cycle in search of fresh grazing. Accompanied by lions, hyenas, and crocodiles, it’s a spectacle like no other — raw, thrilling, and humbling.
Here, ancient acacia trees dot the horizon, sunsets paint the sky in orange and fire, and the heartbeat of the wild can be felt in every direction. It is no wonder Serengeti inspired countless documentaries, stories, and even the classic “The Lion King.”
