Standing at 4,566 meters, Mt Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest peak and one of its most rewarding climbs. This four-day adventure gives you the space to enjoy every moment without rushing the journey.
Firstly, your trek begins in Arusha National Park. The lower slopes are alive with wildlife, making your first day feel more like a walking safari than a climb. Giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and playful monkeys often share the trail. Every turn reveals another glimpse of Tanzania’s incredible biodiversity.
As you climb higher, the forest gives way to open moorlands and volcanic ridges. Each section of the trail brings its own beauty. Waterfalls, alpine flowers and sweeping views of the crater below. The extra day means you can adjust to the altitude gradually, giving your body time to acclimatize and your mind time to soak it all in.
Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable moment. The early morning light paints the ash cone in gold and orange. If the skies are clear, Mount Kilimanjaro appears on the horizon.
It’s ideal for those who want a less-crowded alternative to Kilimanjaro, yet every bit as breathtaking.
