This 2 day Nyerere National Park wildlife safari is a perfect choice if you want to experience Tanzania’s wild heart in just two days. Nyerere National Park, once known as Selous, is one of Africa’s largest wilderness areas. It is where you feel completely surrounded by nature.
The journey begins with a scenic drive from Dar es Salaam into the landscapes of southern Tanzania. Along the way, you will see small villages, open plains and the changing scenery. When you arrive, the park welcomes you with the savannah, winding rivers and distant hills stretching into the horizon.
The game drive offers the excitement of spotting elephants crossing the track, lions resting in the tall grass or giraffes moving gracefully through the acacia trees. Nyerere is also one of the few parks where you can see endangered African wild dogs.
The highlight of this safari is the boat trip on the Rufiji River. You can watch herds of elephants coming to drink, hippos surfacing nearby and birds swooping low over the reeds.
In the evening, relax at your lodge or tented camp. On the second day, you will enjoy another game drive before beginning the return journey to Dar es Salaam.
