TANZANIA VISA

ORDINARY VISA (SINGLE ENTRY VISA)

This Visa is issued for a single entry to a visitor for a period not exceeding three months for the purpose of holidays, visiting, leisure, health treatment, studies or any other activity legally recognized by the Law.

Requirements:

• Applicant’s valid passport. It must have at least 6 months validity;
• Respective visa fee depending on the type of Visa;
• 1 passport size photo;
• Return ticket;

Multiple Entry Visa

This Visa is issued to persons whose nature of their businesses or circumstances require them to make frequent visits to the United Republic of Tanzania for a period not exceeding twelve months. On the other hand, multiple Visa is issued to applicants who are holder of American passports.

NB: Nationals from America (USA) who wish to visit Tanzania for holiday or tourism are required to apply for Multiple Visa.

Requirement

• MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA (NOT APPLICABLE FOR USA)
  • Applicant’s valid passport. It must have at least 6 months validity;
  • Respective visa fee (100 USD);
  • 1 passport size photo
  • Return ticket 
  • Security Bond duly filled and scanned and (available on the DOWNLOADS in the Immigration website);
  • Registration document of  the Host Company inviting the applicant e.g Business License or Certificate of Incorporation (If the applicant visits on Official duties);
  • A covering letter from the Host Institution/family member or any other evidence to prove that the applicant is bound to travel frequently into the United Republic of Tanzania.

Caution:

The Multiple Visa is not intended for those visitors coming on business purposes such as those described under Business Visa category.

Gratis Visa

This visa may be issued for a single entry or multiple entries to a holder of diplomatic, services or official passport or Travel Document of recognized International Organization who is on official duty and their Dependents. It can be also issued to a holder of ordinary passport or Travel document as it may be directed by the Commissioner General of Immigration and Commissioner of Immigration Zanzibar.

Transit Visa

This Visa may be issued to a person for the purpose of transiting through Tanzania to another destination outside the United Republic for a period not exceeding seven days.

Requirement:

• Copy of the applicant’s valid passport;
• An entry visa or onward ticket to the intended country of destination;
• Respective visa fee (30 USD);
• 1 passport size photographs ( for those lodging their applications through embassies).

Business Visa

Business visa will be issued once to foreigners so as to allow them to enter in the United Republic of Tanzania for the following purposes;

1. To conduct special assignments such as fixing/repairing machines or to run short term training, etc.
2. To conduct professional roles such as auditing accounts etc.
3. To conduct lawful business according to the laws of the country.

Requirement:

• Applicant’s valid passport. It must have at least 6 months validity;
• Respective visa fee (250 USD);
• 1 passport size photo
• Return ticket 
• Registration document of  the Host Company inviting the applicant e.g Business License or Certificate of Incorporation;
• A work contract or covering letter from the Host Institution detailing the specific purpose (assignment to be undertaken) and duration of such assignment. 

NB:

This Visa is neither renewable nor extendable unless a special permission is granted by the Commissioner General of immigration.

Student Visa

This Visa is issued to foreigners who wish to come to Tanzania for studying purposes. It is applied Online while a prospective student is still outside Tanzania. Applicant must have an admission from accredited University, college or any approved Institution in Tanzania. The admission and Registration document of such Institution should be joined as a single PDF document and MUST be uploaded online during application.

NB:

• Language teaching institutions are not eligible to provide 2 years visa validity. Applicants who wish to come and learn languages may only apply for 3 months visa.
• For those who have already entered the country, they are required to apply for Student Pass AND NOT Student Visa.  

Applying for a Tanzanian visa can be done online through the Tanzania Immigration Department's eVisa portal. Here's a step-by-step guide:​

1. Access the eVisa Portal:

2. Start Your Application:

• Click on "e-Visa Application Form" to begin a new application.​immigration.go.tz

3. Fill in the Application Form:

• Provide all required personal details, passport information, and travel plans.​

• Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining.​

4. Upload Necessary Documents:

• Scan and upload the biographic data page of your passport.​visa.immigration.go.tz

• Include a recent passport-size photograph.​

5. Pay the Visa Fee:

• The fee varies by visa type:​

  • Ordinary (Single Entry) Visa: $50​visa.immigration.go.tz+1immigration.go.tz+1

  • Multiple Entry Visa: $100​

• Payments are made online through the portal.​

6. Submit Your Application:

• After completing the form and payment, submit your application.​visa.immigration.go.tz

• You'll receive an email with an Application ID for tracking purposes.​visa.immigration.go.tz

7. Await Processing:

• Visa processing typically takes up to ten days. ​immigration.go.tz

• It's advisable to apply at least two weeks before your intended travel date.​

8. Check Application Status:

• Monitor your application's progress using the Check Visa Status feature on the eVisa portal.​visa.immigration.go.tz+1immigration.go.tz+1

9. Receive Your eVisa:

• Once approved, you'll receive the eVisa via email.​

• Print a copy to present upon arrival in Tanzania.​

ORDINARY (SINGLE ENTRY) VISA

An application of Ordinary Visa should be accompanied with the following;

• Copy of the applicant s valid passport (biographic data page);
• Return ticket of the flight;
• Dully filled in declaration form
• 50 USD visa fee.

MULTIPLE VISA (CONSULTANCY WITH GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES/BILATERAL AGREEMENTS)

• A recent passport size photo of the applicant;
• Copy of the applicant’s valid passport (biographic data page);
• Return Ticket of the flight;
• A covering letter from respective government Ministry or Institution; OR
• A covering letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation describing the bilateral agreement;
• 100 USD Visa fee;

MULTIPLE VISA (FAMILY VISIT)

• A recent passport size photo of the applicant;
• Copy of the applicant’s valid passport (biographic data page);
• Return Ticket of the flight;
• An invitation letter from the spouse or child to whom the visit is made;
• Attached marriage certificate (If applicant visits a spouse); or birth certificate If applicant visits his child/children;
• Valid passport or national ID of the spouse or child If applicable or valid Residence Permit If the wife or child is resident
• 100 USD Visa fee;

MULTIPLE VISA (USA NATIONALS VISITING FOR HOLIDAY/TOURISM)

• A recent passport size photo of the applicant;
• Copy of the applicant’s valid passport (biographic data page);
• Return Ticket of the flight;
• 100 USD Visa fee;

MULTIPLE VISA (OTHER)

• Any Multiple visas applied online which will not fall in the categories indicated above, MUST be supported by the following attachments:
• A recent passport size photo of the applicant;
• Copy of the applicant’s valid passport (biographic data page);
• A permission letter from the Commissioner General of Immigration or commissioner of Immigration, Zanzibar;
• Return Ticket of the flight;
• 100 USD Visa fee;

BUSINESS VISA

• Copy of the applicant s valid passport (biographic data page);
• Return ticket of the flight;
• 250 USD visa fee.
• A work contract or any proof of the work/assignment to be performed within a period not exceeding three months;TRANSIT VISA

• Copy of the applicant s valid passport (biographic data page);
• 30 USD visa fee.
• An entry visa or onward ticket to the intended country of destination;

STUDENT VISA

• Copy of the applicant s valid passport (biographic data page);
• 50 USD, 250 USD or 550 USD Visa fee depending on the category and duration.
• Covering letter from the host institution/college where the foreign student will be hosted, the letter must detail the course/field and duration of the programme to be attended
• An open return ticket

Visa Application for Referral Cases

Applicants who fall under Referral Visa category MUST apply their Visa Online; they cannot obtain Visa on arrival. Their Visa process may take longer time than other Visa applicants. They are advised to submit their applications at least two months in advance before their travel date.

Further, they are advised to attach an introduction letter and any other document of their host (whether an individual or company) while applying If applicable. If they come for tourism purpose, it is recommended to obtain a covering letter from a registered credible company and it must be uploaded online along with other relevant documents for consideration.
